Click Here For More Info! - AYSO 1046 Gold scores big at Tucson soccer tournamentPosted on: 2011-01-20More than 300 teams turned out for the 21st Annual Fort Lowell Shootout soccer tournament, sponsored by the Tucson Realtors Association. The event, held January 14 to 16 in Tucson, drew teams from around Arizona, and as far away as New Mexico and Texas, to take part in a parade of teams, soccer Olympics, and matches. Not to mention a whole bunch of fun!
But no club took home as many first place gold medal finishes as American Youth Soccer Organization (AYSO) 1046 Gold, which includes players from Ahwatukee Foothills, Tempe and Chandler. Eight Gold teams participated in the tournament and five of them took first place in their division. In total, the eight teams scored 61 goals with only 16 goals scored against them and combined for a whopping 15 shutouts in 28 games played. AYSO 1046 Gold was the most successful soccer club at the event for all age divisions. The next closest was Desert Foothills SC with four first place finishes.
The Gold teams that participated included:
Blue Thunder U10 Boys, Croatia Division – 1st Place
3 wins; 9 goals for, 0 against
Comets U10 Girls, Scotland Division – 1st Place
3 wins, 1 tie; 10 goals for, 1 against
Blue Thunder U11 Boys, Bronze Division – 3rd Place
2 wins, 1 tie; 6 goals for, 3 against
Firecrackers U11 Girls, Silver Division – 3rd Place
2 wins, 1 loss; 4 goals for, 2 against
Flash FC U12 Boys, Copper Division – 1st Place
4 wins; 8 goals for, 1 against
Arsenal U13 Boys, Bronze Division – 4th Place
1 win, 2 losses; 6 goals for, 5 against
Newcastle U14 Boys, Silver Division – 1st Place
4 wins; 9 goals for, 3 against
Sabotage U14 Girls, Copper Division – 1st Place
3 wins, 1 loss; 9 goals for, 1 against
AYSO Gold is AYSO Region 1046’s Select Team program. AYSO Gold emphasizes player development in a positive learning environment under AYSO’s six core philosophies. AYSO Gold teams play competitively with teams across the Valley and beyond, against both Club teams and AYSO Allstar teams from other AYSO regions. Players are selected for teams through open tryouts held prior to each season. Tryouts for the Gold program will be held in late April and early May.
